The Sports Management Federation of India (SMFI) is Established under Section 21 of the Societies Registration Act, 1860, SMFI was formally registered on 16th December 2020 in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, marking the beginning of a transformative movement to professionalize the management of sport in India.
The Sports Management Federation of India (SMFI) is the national apex body dedicated to empowering the ecosystem of sports management, administration, and governance in India. As a catalyst for professional excellence, SMFI connects sports managers, administrators, federations, institutions, and academic partners across disciplines — creating a dynamic platform that supports the sustainable growth of sport in India.
We champion innovation, capacity-building, and policy alignment to meet global standards in sports management. Through partnerships, education, certification, and advocacy, SMFI is shaping a future where Indian sport is not only played at the highest level — but also managed with the highest integrity, skill, and vision.
From grassroot development to elite sports administration, we aim to nurture a new generation of professionals who will lead Indian sport into its next era of global impact.

PROF.DR. JITENDER S. NARUKA, HON.PRESIDENT
He is the Former Vice-Chancellor of Lakshmibai National Institute of Physical Education (LNIPE), an autonomous institution under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, where he played a pivotal role in advancing the professional landscape of physical education and sports sciences in the country.
He is also the Founder of the Indira Gandhi Institute of Physical Education & Sports Sciences, University of Delhi — one of India's most prestigious institutions in the field.
Internationally, he has served as the National Course Director for the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and also served as the Director of National Olympic Academy of India at the International Olympic Academy in Greece, working at the intersection of Olympic education, ethics, and leadership development.

UMANG GOPALBHAI DAWN, HON.SECRETARY GENERAL
A 2012 International Yogasana Champion and winner of 8 National Gold Medals in Yogasana, he has represented India with distinction and earned recognition for his commitment to excellence on the mat.
Beyond his sporting career, he holds an MBA in Sports Management and is a proud Master Olympic Scholar from the prestigious International Olympic Academy & University of Peloponesse, Greece — a testament to his deep understanding of global Olympic values, governance, and sports leadership.
